Whether you drive a petrol-guzzling SUV or a dinky two-door runabout, a visit to the petrol station these days can be a bracing affair.
Fuel prices in Singapore, which had been fairly stable for two years, shot up in May on the back of costlier crude oil. Pump prices after the rise were about nine to 11 cents dearer for a litre of unleaded than in March. With prices now around $2.60 a litre, drivers are naturally on the lookout for ways to stretch their dollar when they get behind the wheel.
