A company's aggressive promotion of a South Korean alkaline water dispenser struck such a chord with entrepreneur Jeffrey Tan that he gave up his job and struck out on his own.

He told The Sunday Times: "I was fascinated by the product. Its concept was very appealing and, after some research, I decided to embark on the business, seeing how it had the potential to reach many segments of customers."
