Confessions of a penny-pinching shopaholic

Sounds like a paradox, but I treat shopping like any other hobby - enjoyable but non-essential

A personal finance column is probably not the best place to confess my love for shopping - for clothes, shoes, make-up, books, and even furniture.

Being able to spend money on these things is obviously a luxury and can even seem like the ultimate signifier of gross materialism and shallowness.
