On June 1, when his name appeared in the Queen's birthday honours list for a knighthood, Mr Pascal Soriot was preparing to mark a decade at the helm of AstraZeneca (AZ), the Cambridge, UK-based biopharmaceuticals company where he orchestrated one of the world's great turnaround stories.
