NEW DELHI (AFP) - India's industrial output slid by a surprise 1.6 per cent in May from a year earlier, official data showed on Friday, in another blow to the struggling economy.

The decline in year-on-year output growth of India's factories, mines and utilities undershot financial market expectations of a 1.5 per cent increase, according to a Dow Jones survey.
