Job seekers face tough time as employers become more cautious on hiring, though pockets of growth still exist

A 43-year-old home baker did not expect things to be so tough when he decided to re-enter the job market earlier this year.

The baker, who wanted to be known only as Fred, had quit his job as an accountant last year to pursue his passion for making cakes. He has been looking for a position as an accountant or pastry chef for three months without success.
