SINGAPORE - A high-level delegation from the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) will travel to Johor for a day trip on Wednesday (July 29) with an objective to deepen relations and be updated on latest developments in Iskandar Malaysia.

Members will meet their Johor Baru counterparts, as well as members of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Johor Baru branch.

"Besides creating business opportunities, this visit will help Singapore companies to facilitate the smooth implementation of their investments in Iskandar Malaysia," SCCCI president Thomas Chua said.

Singapore businesses have invested in across the Causeway, with many companies relocating their manufacturing operations in Iskandar Malaysia, as part of their plans to upgrade productivity to adapt to new economic challenges. Last November, SCCCI launched the Iskandar Network@SCCCI to bring together Singapore-based local and foreign enterprises.

"It provides the platform for them to share their experiences and generate business opportunities," a release issued by SCCCI on Tuesday, said. " It is also intended to provide timely and relevant information on doing business in Iskandar Malaysia."

Wednesday's day trip has been arranged under the auspices of the Iskandar Network@SCCCI, which specifically allows members to be updated on the latest developments in Malaysia in general and in Iskandar Malaysia in particular. The dialogue and discussions with JBCCCI and FMM Johor Branch will provide relevant insights, the release added.

SCCCI is an ISO certified organisation with over 4,000 corporate members and more than 150 trade association members representing over 40,000 companies including large financial and business organisations, multinational corporations, government-linked companies and small and medium enterprises.
