Govt will make it easier for SMEs to tap help schemes

CHANGES are afoot to make enterprise development centres (EDCs) even more accessible to SMEs, said Minister of State for Trade and Industry (MTI) Teo Ser Luck today.

Speaking to the media at the end of a tour of Envipure - a local small-medium enterprise (SME) in the Cleantech sector, he did not elaborate but said that details of the changes will be unveiled soon.

Mr Teo said: "The EDCs will change in its form, shape and size. This is something that will probably roll out this Budget. When it changes its form, shape and size, it also means that content changes within these EDCs."

He added that the changes should make help extended by the EDCs functional and effective for SMEs to tap on.

MTI also said that details of further support for SMEs looking to expand their businesses abroad will be announced in the upcoming committee of supply debate.
