Plans to help firms, workers build new capabilities: Chan Chun Sing

This will be a key focus of next Budget amid downturn, the minister for trade and industry said in an interview with The Sunday Times.

Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing talks about the impact of US-China trade tensions on Singapore, how to overcome the challenges and what keeps him up at night.

One of the focuses of next year's Budget will be building up the capability of companies, workers and new sectors to thrive in what might be a challenging economy ahead, said Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing.

In an interview with The Sunday Times last week, he also said that more smaller firms can soon benefit from an expanded version of Scale-up Singapore, a scheme that currently aims to help groups of high-growth firms become international names.
