Risk of global stagflation

The global economy risks entering a new era of high inflation and slowing growth - or stagflation - the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) warned in its annual report yesterday. The umbrella body for the world's central banks called for interest rates to be raised decisively to stem the inflation threat, while avoiding a recession.
