China's labour market stable in 1H: stats bureau

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's labour market and consumer prices were generally stable in the first-half of the year, the statistics bureau said on Wednesday.

Sheng Laiyun, spokesman at the National Bureau of Statistics, also said domestic consumption continued to be an important driver of the world's second-largest economy in the first six months of the year.

Sheng made the comments at a press briefing as China released its second-quarter gross domestic product, which showed economic growth quickening a shade to 7.5 per cent compared with a year earlier, supported by a raft of government stimulus measures.
