Decision to quit job and upgrade skills pays off

32-year-old graduate gets new position and salary increase after taking course in data science

Seven years after graduating from university with a degree in mathematics and economics, Mr Lam Chun Wai took a big gamble in March and quit his job to go back to school.

That meant giving up his role as an assistant category development manager in a fast-moving consumer goods company, because he wanted to look for more opportunities to grow his skills in data science.
