SINGAPORE – DBS Bank has appointed Mr Calvin Ong as its new Singapore consumer banking head. He will succeed Mr Jeremy Soo, who will retire at the end of 2024, the lender said on Sept 6.
Mr Ong will start at his new position on Jan 1, 2025, and will oversee the group’s consumer banking and wealth management platforms. Mr Soo will stay on as an adviser, leaving his executive duties at the bank after 17 years as head of Singapore consumer banking.
The newly appointed Mr Ong, 42, joined DBS in 2007 as a management associate and is currently head of investment products and advisory at the bank’s consumer banking and wealth management group.
He has spent eight of his 17-year career at the lender’s corporate treasury, where he eventually became its deputy corporate treasurer.
The incoming consumer banking head graduated from Oxford and Harvard, before joining DBS.
Mr Soo, who joined DBS in 2003, was responsible for overseeing the launch of PayLah! – the bank’s mobile wallet – as Singapore consumer banking head. THE BUSINESS TIMES
