SINGAPORE – BlueAcres, a privately owned microfarm in Singapore, has pioneered an autism-friendly employment model where students from St Andrew’s Autism Centre learn and take on agricultural responsibilities as part of the farm’s daily operations.

It is one of the companies which had an annual award celebrating financially self-sustaining solutions with positive social and environmental impacts in the Asia-Pacific region.

Steward Leadership 25 (SL25), which is in its fourth edition in 2025, is open to for-profit entities across all sectors. The award will be given to 25 of the best projects of steward leadership excellence.

The initiative is organised by Stewardship Asia Centre (SAC), and founding partners include the Insead Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society, global advisory firm WTW and The Straits Times.

Steward leadership – characterised by a deep-seated commitment to fostering a collective better future for stakeholders, society, future generations and the environment – is not merely a noble pursuit but a strategic business imperative, said SAC.

“It seeks to establish an optimal approach to growth and achieving prosperity that benefits employees, shareholders and society,” the centre added.

SL25 is

open for applications till April 15

. The awardees will be unveiled later in 2025.

To qualify for the award, a company’s project has to have made a positive impact between Oct 1, 2022 and Oct 23, 2024.

Qualifying projects should also be primarily owned, managed and implemented by the applicant organisation.

SL25 in 2024 received 139 applications from 122 organisations across 25 countries.
