Volatility to continue as recession bears prowl

SINGAPORE - Fears of an impending recession convulsed markets last week, sending key Wall Street indexes towards bear market territory.

The S&P 500 index sank 3 per cent in the week and 18 per cent year to date. The Dow Jones lost 2.9 per cent with the blue-chip index now 13.97 per cent down for 2022 as inflation and interest rate fears dog the market.
