Stock markets likely to be volatile until clarity emerges on Omicron

Markets are expected to be volatile as experts gauge the impact of the Omicron virus variant in terms of transmissibility, severity and vaccine efficacy in the coming weeks.

"We will get better clarity only in a few weeks' time, when the World Health Organisation, scientists and vaccine makers delve deeper into the latest variant to assess how infectious and lethal it is," Mr Vasu Menon, executive director of investment strategy at OCBC Bank, told The Straits Times.
