S'pore crypto firms take precautions ahead of complex Ethereum upgrade

SINGAPORE - Crypto firms and service providers in the Republic are anticipating a complicated software upgrade on Ethereum that will enable the blockchain to deliver more usable, real-world solutions and raise its appeal among investors.

But they have also taken steps, including temporarily suspending deposits, withdrawals and payments in crypto, to protect investors from potential risks and price volatility if the move does not go as planned.
