SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened lower on Friday (April 8), with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,787.33 in early trade, down 0.93 per cent, or 26.26 points.

Around 42.9 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 85 to 21.
