SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,979.46 in early trade, down 0.63 per cent, or 18.89 points.

Around 66.8 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 84 to 58.
