SINGAPORE - Singapore shares opened lower on Wednesday (May 18), with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,770.67 in early trade, down 0.38 per cent, or 10.44 points.

Around 80.1 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 79 to 37.
