Insurance group Great Eastern officially opened a new office at Westgate Tower in Jurong on Tuesday.

The office, occupying about 32,000 sq ft on the 18th and 19th floors, comprises a customer service centre and agency offices.

Initially, about 300 Great Eastern distribution representatives, customer service and new business underwriting teams will be based at the new premises.

Dr Khoo Kah Siang, chief executive officer of Great Eastern Singapore, said: "We are excited to establish our presence in the west, where a good percentage of our customers reside.

"We believe customers and employees alike will appreciate the open and spacious premises in a vibrant and contemporary setting. Not only is this ideal for greater customer engagement, it will also facilitate and spur collaboration and innovative thinking in our people."

Service counters on the 18th floor are designed to provide greater privacy for customers, while employees can make use of "relax corners" complete with casual and colourful settees. "We believe a motivated and happy workforce is a productive and service-focused workforce," said Dr Khoo.
