Market highlights

1 Gold prices were little changed, ahead of central bank meetings in the United States and Japan this week as traders looked for any signals of policy changes, said Bloomberg. Bullion for immediate delivery was at US$1,234 an ounce.


2 The five largest mining plays on the SGX - Falcon Energy, GCCP Resources, Geo Energy Resources, Wilton Resources Corporation and CNMC Goldmine - have averaged a 1.8 per cent gain so far this year.


3 SGX-listed Jason Marine unit Jason Venture will subscribe for 51,340 convertible preference shares in Sense Infosys for $850,000. Sense Infosys provides analytics and other services in the port and logistics areas.


4 China Mining International plans to acquire a controlling stake in Aero Wind Properties from Sino-Africa Mining and Mr Zhang Yan-Bing. Aero Wind has a right to prospect in an iron ore mine in South Africa.


5 Moody's has upgraded the issuer rating of Frasers Commercial Trust from Baa3 to Baa2 with a stable outlook, citing its stronger finances.
