Market highlights

1 Gold rose above US$1,100 an ounce for the first time in nine weeks amid the global stock market rout, worries over the Chinese economy and geopolitical tensions, Reuters said.

2 The Singapore Exchange said total securities market turnover value fell 21 per cent to $17 billion in December last year compared with December 2014. Securities daily average value fell 21 per cent year on year to $774 million.

3 On the derivatives front, SGX said total derivatives volume was 14.4 million, down 17 per cent in December last year compared with the year before.

4 Global Yellow Pages said it has agreed with Aimers to develop the retail business of ice cream, beverages and hot dogs under the Wendy's brand, and the retail sale of fried chicken, drinks and other food products under the Gang Ti trademarks.

5 Advanced Integrated Manufacturing has entered into an agreement for the acquisition of a minimart business located at Block 310, Yishun Ring Road, for $100,000 in cash.
