Market highlights

1 Brent crude dropped below $35 a barrel to an 11-year low before weekly US government data forecast that fuel supplies had risen in the world's biggest consuming nation, said Bloomberg.

2 Gold closed in on US$1,088 per ounce, a four-week high, as persistent concerns over the Chinese economy battered stock markets, while tensions simmered in the Korean peninsula and the Middle East, said Reuters.

3 SGX mainboard-listed Sarine Technologies, which makes product for the processing and measurement of diamonds, said the fourth quarter last year was affected by ongoing challenging industry conditions.

4 China Gaoxian Fibre Fabric said it is in preliminary discussions with potential parties with respect to a proposed major corporate action.

5 Best World International has set up a joint venture in Dubai called BWL General Trading with a paid up-capital of 200,000 dirhams (S$77,000). It will import, trade and re-export goods and products. Best World owns 49 per cent.
