Market highlights

1 The SGX's 30 biggest and actively traded consumer plays comprise 17 consumer staples and 13 consumer discretionary stocks. They are up by an average of 16 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively so far this year .

2 CapitaLand Mall Trust had said in 2014 it was planning to sell some strata units in the office tower at Westgate. CMT's manager says that the sale was completed yesterday.

3 United Food expects to make a loss for the third quarter ended Sept 30. This is mainly due to the stoppage of soya bean production and a gross loss in animal feed products.

4 Mainboard-listed Singapore Myanmar Investco is divesting its telecommunication tower business in Myanmar to Shining Star International for about US$12.71 million (S$17.7 million) as it strengthens its balance sheet.

5 SGX-listed MMP Resources expects a net loss for the third quarter ended Sept 30, due to administration expenses incurred in the group's restructuring process and investment impairments.
