Market highlights

  1. Ley Choon Group unit Chin Kuan Engineering and Contractors has won a $9.5 million contract from the PUB for watermain repairs and network services from 2016 to 2019.
  2. AEM Holdings bought back 500 of its own shares yesterday at 50 cents apiece, paying $251.25 in total. It has bought 874,200 of its own shares since April 28 and now holds over 1.99 million treasury shares.
  3. Singapore construction and property group Chip Eng Seng is making a foray into the Maldives with Singapore- based Park Hotel Group by acquiring Kodhipparu Island Resort for US$65 million (S$89.3 million).
  4. Global Palm Resources bought back 39,100 of its own shares yesterday at 30 cents each, at a cost of $11,797.78. It has bought back about 1.7 million shares since April 25 and now holds over 5.4 million treasury shares.
  5. Keppel Land has begun buying renewable energy from Keppel Electric to power its corporate office at Bugis Junction Towers. This is expected to offset about 150,000kg of carbon emissions a year.
