Market highlights

1 The Australian dollar touched a two-week low yesterday, staring at its second straight weekly loss as the greenback rose ahead of the United States' third-quarter economic data, Reuters said.


2 Gold prices are set for a second weekly advance. The SPDR Gold Shares exchange-traded fund has been the most active ETF here so far this year, with a turnover of $594.4 million, up by 46 per cent from the same period last year.


3 Catalist-listed Acromec will incur a net loss for the financial year ended Sept 30, mainly owing to professional fees for its initial public offering. Also, a few of of the firm's projects have incurred additional costs.


4 China Sky Chemical Fibre said that its court application to halt the auction of properties and machinery belonging to one of its units has been unsuccessful.


5 SGX-listed Luzhou Bio-Chem Technology said it is likely to report a net loss for the third quarter ended Sept 30.
