Lim Hng Kiang heading to Kenya for WTO talks

Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang is attending a World Trade Organisation ministerial conference in Kenya this week.

The talks among representatives of 160 member states will focus on issues relating to the Doha Development Agenda negotiations.

Electronic commerce and trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights will be addressed as well.

While in Kenya, Mr Lim will call on Kenyan Cabinet secretaries and meet firms to discuss developments in Kenya's economy and opportunities in sectors such as transport and logistics, urban solutions and agribusiness.

This week's ministerial conference, which is the first to be held in Africa, will mark the 20th anniversary of WTO's establishment.

Mr Lim will be accompanied by officials from the Trade and Industry and Foreign Affairs ministries and the Attorney-General's Chambers.
