KLW duo under investigation by CAD

SINGAPORE - The former managing director (MD) and former group financial controller of KLW Holdings are being investigated by the white collar crimebuster for possible breaches of law.

Mr Lee Boon Teck, the former MD who is currently a consultant of the company, was interviewed by the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) on Nov 19 and Nov 20 in connection with possible offences under section 203 of the Securities and Futures Act (SFA).

CAD has requested Mr Lee to surrender all travel documents and access to certain other documents.

On Nov 19, Ms Jaslin Gaw Kuan Ching, currently head of operations and human resource of KLW, was interviewed by the CAD in connection with possible offences under section 199 of the SFA and released on bail.

Ms. Gaw was formerly financial controller of the company.

For the purpose of the investigation, CAD also requested access to certain documents from Ms Gaw.

KLW said the CAD has not disclosed any further details on its investigations.

The business and operations of the group are not affected by the investigations and will continue as normal, it added.

"The company has extended and will continue to extend its fullest co-operation to the CAD in its investigations and will make further announcements as and when there are further significant developments concerning this matter," it noted.

On Sunday, KLW issued a statement in response to questions from the Singapore Exchange over its continued employment of the duo in their new capacity.

However, it did not disclose the CAD investigation until Monday.
