SINGAPORE - The German testing, certification and training provider TUV SUD on Thursday (March 31) opened its new Digital Service Centre of Excellence in Singapore, with a commitment to invest over S$40 million here over the next three years.
The centre, established with financial support from the Economic Development Board, is located at TUV SUD's existing office at the Science Park, where its water business unit is also housed.
Staff at the new digital service centre will collaborate with industry partners to innovate and test new ways to integrate technology into infrastructure management and improving the lives of citizens. This will involve the use of new technologies involving predictive data analytics and cyber security, in line with Singapore's Smart Nation initiative.
TUV SUD's new centre will hire more than 50 research engineers and digital experts over the next three years. The firm will also introduce a PhD programme to build up knowledge in the field of software-based verification of complex smart systems.
One of the centre's first pilot projects will involve solutions catered for smart homes.
Dr Andreas Hauser, director of TUV SUD digital service, said at the inauguration: "I believe that Singapore finds the right compromise between the vision and the status quo, and how to get (to its Smart Nation goal). This is a strong reason why TUV SUD commits here."
