China shares down slightly in morning trade on Wednesday

SHANGHAI (AFP) - Chinese shares were slightly lower in morning trade Wednesday after data showed inflation eased in June from the previous month, dealers said.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.17 per cent, or 3.47 points, to 2,060.55.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged down 0.08 per cent, or 0.88 points, to 1,119.50.

China's annual inflation slowed to 2.3 per cent in June from a four-month high of 2.5 per cent in May, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
