Changes to boards of EDB, A*Star, IE S'pore

SINGAPORE • The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) announced yesterday changes to the boards of the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.

At EDB, Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan, NTUC's assistant secretary-general, has been appointed to the board with effect from Feb 1. He is also MP for West Coast GRC (Boon Lay), chairs the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Manpower and sits on the GPCs for Law and Home Affairs.

Two EDB board members have been reappointed: Mr Tan Pheng Hock, president and chief executive officer of Singapore Technologies Engineering, and Mr Jean-Luc Butel, president of K8 Global and senior adviser at McKinsey and Company.

Three board members will step down when their terms end on Jan 31. They are Mr Kwek Mean Luck, the Second Solicitor-General in the Attorney-General's Chambers, NTUC assistant secretary-general and director of industrial relations Cham Hui Fong and ECD independent director Bruno Guilmart.

Dr Tatsumi Yamazaki, distinguished adviser to Chugai Pharmaceutical Co, joins A*Star's board from Feb 1.

Two board members have been reappointed: Dr William Chin, executive vice-president of scientific and regulatory affairs at PhRMA, and Mr Lam Yi Young, deputy secretary of policy at the Ministry of Education.

Frazier Healthcare venture partner Tadataka Yamada will step down from the board when his term ends on Jan 31.

At IE Singapore, Mr Seah Moon Ming has been re-appointed as chairman from Jan 1. Other board members reappointed from Jan 1 are Brigadier-General Lim Tuang Liang, the chief of staff of air staff at the Ministry of Defence; founder and managing director of Sirius Venture Capital Eugene Wong; and PSA International group CEO Tan Chong Meng.
