S'pore joins Japan, South Korea, Sydney, Hong Kong, Chinese bourses in sell-off

Local shares escaped relatively unscathed on a shaky day for regional markets yesterday, amid continued concerns about trade and emerging market currencies.

The Straits Times Index edged down 0.3 per cent or 8.59 points to 3,147.69 with about 920 million shares worth $996 million changing hands. Losers outnumbered gainers 225 to 142.
