Singapore logistics player YCH has given the fast-growing sector a big boost by unveiling what is said to be the region's largest and tallest automated storage retrieval system in Jurong West.

Its top-of-the-range Supply Chain City facility, launched yesterday at the Jurong Innovation District, uses cutting-edge technology.

YCH chairman Robert Yap said at the launch: "We can serve the future distribution and fufilment needs of Asia-Pacific from Supply Chain City."

The facility has the capacity for more than 66,000 pallets, with 120 docks for loading and unloading. Its features include inventory-counting drones and advanced robotics. The automated storage retrieval system towers 50m high. The system means all the pallets can be moved on a land site of just 110,000 sq ft. A conventional system would require 700,000 sq ft to get the same result.

Mr Yap said the facility will support Singapore's growth as a global logistics hub. It can house more than 10,000 people.
