StanChart taking digital route to expansion in Asia and Africa

Moving into digital banking will help traditional banks capture a greater market share, and cut down on the number of bricks-and-mortar outlets, said Standard Chartered Bank's chief information officer Michael Gorriz.

He told The Straits Times that his bank's digital push into markets like Hong Kong and Singapore is to target a different group of customers, while in Africa, it is using digital banking to replace its physical branches.
