BEIJING - As views harden in Beijing that the United States is meddling in cross-strait affairs, political pundits are closely watching how Chinese President Xi Jinping will reshuffle the military top brass set to be unveiled this weekend.

In particular, they will be looking out for whether the new line-up hints at preparation for possible armed conflict with the US one day over Taiwan.
