Anxiety in the air as Pakistanis vote

Pakistan is holding its general election today as the military deploys hundreds of thousands of troops to oversee polling stations.

The mammoth deployment coupled with a recent decision by the election authorities to grant military officers broad powers inside polling booths has stirred fears of possible manipulation ahead of the contest.


Pick up fire fighting skills at Vicom

From today, car owners who have their vehicles inspected at the Vicom inspection centre in Sin Ming can learn how to use a fire extinguisher for free.

Vicom is partnering Lingjack Engineering Works, which manufactures fire fighting equipment, to offer the public an opportunity to learn how to put out fires originating from car engines and home kitchens.


Economic Society holds annual dinner

The Economic Society of Singapore is holding its annual dinner tonight. The guest of honour is Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education.
