TAIPEI (AFP) - A Turkish man was arrested and detained in Taiwan on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting at least two local women and making sex videos, a court and the media said.

The man, identified by his Chinese name Wang Kai-chieh, was taken into custody as he is considered a flight risk, said the Taipei district court in a statement adding that he is a Turkish national.

The court said at least two women have come forward to accuse him of sexual assault without elaborating on the sex video allegations.

Taiwan's Apple Daily newspaper identified him by a Turkish name and said that he was 26-years-old. It cited unnamed sources as saying that he had filmed women in compromising scenes, apparently without their knowledge.

The man, who is currently studying at a Taipei university, has made headlines in Taiwan after a female student who met him on the Internet reported him to the police claiming she was sexually violated.

He has denied the sexual assault charges.

Last year a local tycoon's son was arrested for allegedly drugging dozens of women, possibly including celebrities, and making sex videos without their consent.
