North Korea wanted five of the 11 United Nations sanctions imposed in 2016 lifted - a request it first made at initial talks several weeks before the Hanoi summit, said a senior State Department official.
North Korea asked that the five sanctions, which impeded the civilian economy and people's livelihoods, be eased, said North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho.
