Trudeau visits Amritsar 's Golden Temple in India

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire, with their son Xavie and daughter Ella-Grace, posing for photographs during their visit to the Golden Temple, the holiest of Sikh shrines in Amritsar, India, yesterday as officials and security personnel gathered nearby.

Mr Trudeau is in India on a seven-day state visit to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

He downplayed talk of a snub by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who sent a junior minister to greet him at the airport instead of welcoming him personally, as he normally would.

"I have met the Prime Minister in various places around the world and am looking forward to sitting down with him on Friday," he said when asked by a reporter.
