Trade may still be thorny issue amid warm US-India ties

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo heads to South Asia next Monday, with India and the United States set to deepen their relationship, but trade and market access issues may sour the bonhomie.

Mr Pompeo, giving a keynote speech at the 2019 US-India Business Council (USIBC) "India Ideas Summit" in Washington last Wednesday, was enthusiastic about the relationship, which has become steadily closer in the last decade, especially in the strategic aspect - defence and security.
