Repeal of farm laws shows Modi govt susceptible to public pressure:

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seen as a popular and decisive leader, able to take tough decisions with the backing of a strong parliamentary majority.

So his supporters were deeply disappointed when he backtracked last week on three farm laws because he said he could not convince a section of the country's farmers.
