Political campaign funding and a donor’s right to privacy have come into sharp focus as India heads into a round of state elections in the lead-up to 2024’s general election.

The Supreme Court will soon decide if voters have a right to know who is funding their candidates or political parties in a case related to the validity of electoral bonds, which make up 57 per cent of all political donations.
