Indian activists in New Delhi holding a candlelight vigil on Thursday to pay tribute to police horse Shaktiman, which died after being injured during a political rally in Uttarakhand on March 14. The horse was allegedly attacked by a politician and its death triggered outrage. The animal became the subject of a weeks-long row between rival political parties in India after its injured hind leg turned gangrenous and had to be amputated. Shaktiman went into shock and died after being given anaesthesia to treat another infection.
