A male leopard that had strayed onto the grounds of a private school in Bangalore, India, mauling wildlife conservationist Sanjay Gubbi as a colleague armed with a tranquilliser gun stands by.

Video footage of the attack on Monday shows Mr Gubbi fighting off the animal, which runs away. He and six others were injured - none seriously - during the 10-hour stand-off with the leopard before the tranquilliser drugs kicked in and it stumbled into a changing room and collapsed.

It was later released in a national park.
