BANGALORE - Indian billionaire Gautam Adani has had two brushes with death.

He was held for ransom by bandits in 1997. And in 2008, he was among the hostages at the seafront Taj Hotel of Mumbai during India's deadliest terror attack that killed more than 160 people.
