NEW DELHI - As the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan nears, India is seeking to ensure that the space it has carved out in the war-torn country over the past two decades does not shrink entirely.

Indian media reports said that the South Asian country, in a major shift in policy, opened a channel of communication with the Taleban.
