After its wheat output was affected by a heatwave, India is now grappling with reduced rice planting due to poor rainfall and a mysterious "dwarfing" disease affecting the crops that could potentially have global ramifications.
The South Asian country is the largest rice exporter globally with a market share of 40 per cent. It exported 17.71 million tonnes of rice last year to 150 countries.
