What was supposed to have been a short break in April to visit her parents in Pakistan ended up becoming an indefinite waiting game for Ms Fariha Nasir.

A worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in South Asian countries had already led the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to suspend flights from India, and before Ms Nasir could return, Pakistan - along with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka - was added to the list in May.
