‘A link to my motherland’: How a ferry operated by a S’pore firm is connecting India and Sri Lanka

- Tourists have become surprising envoys for a new ferry service traversing the strait that divides India and Sri Lanka, creating a buzz over it that could actually help forge cross-border bonds.

Since August, the Shivagangai ferry has been taking an average of 100 people several times a week from Nagapattinam, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, to Kankesanthurai, in north Sri Lanka, and making the return journey home with another batch of travellers.
